A Letter to Lady of America.....
I first came to LOA with a friend to join in on a BodyCombat class. After a month of watching her take the class, and rave about it, I decided to take it myself. I was nervous, but after completing my first class I was completely hooked. I came back twice a week to drop in on the class with my friend until I finally decided that BodyCombat, was a necessity in my weekly routine, and I joined the gym.

I joined with a goal to lose 60 pounds in a year. What I got out of my membership, however, was so much more than a kick start to the weight loss. I forged friendships with many of the friendly women who attend the gym. I have gained support, guidance, motivation, and friendship from some of the amazing instructors and personal trainers.

I fell completely in love with BodyCombat, and other classes such as BodyAttack and Boxing Boot Camp. I have attempted and conquered intense workouts that a year ago, I never would have thought of, or had the confidence to even try. I leave here every day feeling empowered, and feeling great about myself, my progress, and I have picked up a new hobby…. BOXING!!!!

After 4 months a new me is immerging 20 pounds lighter!! I go home happy and confident in not only that, but in knowing that I got there because of the support here! The friends I have made, the awesome classes, and because of the comfortable, friendly atmosphere that has lured me in to try in the first place.

Hi my name is Kathy Swist, I have been a member of LADY OF AMERICA for 10 years, and my goal in the beginning was to just stay fit. I have taken every class LOA had to offer and really enjoyed them all. Some classes were more difficult then others, but they would all be very challenging. Sometimes I would be nervous about taking a class, fearing I was not up to the fitness level of most, but I did them anyway and to my surprise, I was up to the fitness level. So I have learned never to underestimate myself.

I have found all of the instructors are extremely knowledgeable and quite helpful. They are always available to answer your questions or concerns. One of my issues was I noticed myself starting to gain weight, even thought I was coming to the gym 4 days a week. I spoke to Kim Chadwick and she mentioned to me, you have to mix up your routine because I had plateaued. My body had just been going though the motions of working out and I was no longer challenging myself.

So, I starting taking the personal training group sessions, known as shred and tread and all I can say is WOW!!!! I enjoy the group sessions because we are challenging each other, we also encourage one another. The only way I can describe these classes are like a mini biggest loser class. I have seen changes in my body I never saw before because the class is an all over workout.

You don’t have to be in top form… the instructor gears it to your fitness level, so even though some girls may be at the top of their form you can fit right in and work your way up. As I said, we encourage each other. It is such a positive experience for me. I am thrilled with my results.

I have been a member of Lady of America, Royersford, since 2004. I have always been active in classes, cardio and personal training and in 2009, I lost 15lbs! My personal trainer, Kim, had shaped and sculpted me and the result was weighing the same as I did in high school (20 years ago!)....but looking even better! I found out that I would be moving to Wyomissing, PA in June 2009, 40 minutes East of Royersford and too far to consider commuting....I thought.
Sad to leave, I joined a new gym in my new town and it had all the bells and whistles you could want in a gym....minus the welcoming and motivating greetings from the front desk staff and owners: personable, caring, talented instructors and trainers, and supportive, friendly members.
I lasted the summer at my new gym and was left feeling unmotivated and missing what I had at LOA. I decided that the atmosphere at LOA was worth the extra travel time and decided to rejoin in Sept 2009. The club was under new ownership and when I returned, I was even more pleased with the updates and changes and I continue to be motivated from my trainer Kim, even after a long day at work! The owners always solicit feedback and suggestions and strive to make things the best that they can be. One of my other favorite things that makes LOA in Royersford the best gym I've ever belonged to....the wonderful members who are committed role models. I am surrounded by supportive "friends" who push each other to do the very best and celebrate each other's success. Though every workout is extremely challenging, there isn't a time where I haven't smiled, laughed or felt great satisfaction.
LOA helped me reach and maintain my personal goals and I feel like I am part of wonderful family!
