Natalie’s Tip of the Day:
I am looking forward to hearing from the members of Lady of America. Feel free to send in any questions you have on exercise, nutrition, weight training and fitness. As a woman, my philosophy is simple. I believe that being fit and having a healthy body comes from living a healthy life everyday.

The very first piece of advice I give to any client or to any class I am going to share with you: There are no miracles for you to get your body to a different level – exercise and nutrition are essential. You have to work at it by eating properly and bringing in cardio and resistance training, such as weight training exercises to your daily routine. I was once an overweight woman, though I was active. I practice what I preach.
- Follow a healthy diet. That means no white, no sugar [or low sugar] and low-fat foods. Choose healthy fats – olive, safflower, canola and nuts/seeds. Watch portions and size.
- With the holiday season here, it is easy to get caught up in the festivities. Watch your alcohol intake. It never ends with one glass.
- Cardio – a good start is to hit the gym 2 times a week for a minimum of 20 minutes. It’s an easy, simple goal. Build up from there.
- Resistance Training. Never be afraid of weight training exercises. many women fear bigger muscles, but weights don’t make your muscles bigger. In fact, resistance training helps boost your metabolism so you burn more calories, it tones your body and allows it to change shape, it makes your body stronger and it helps in your posture. What makes your muscles bigger is what you feed them.
