Pushing Your Limits

Hello, ladies! Let's talk about improving your fitness level. There is only one way to do it: you have to push through your own limitations. You have to push over that point you once thought was your maximum. It takes determination, perspiration, strength and lots of will-power. Sometimes it takes one to get a little uncomfortable for one to get stronger.

Let's say you are a cardio person and you use the same elliptical machine for 30 minutes at Level 4 every time you go to the gym. One day I want you to try Level 5. It will be hard at first. Your heart rate will increase, your breathing will be heavier, your legs will burn, and at times you will want to bring the level back down to 4.

But if you tough it out and push through, the next time you use the machine at Level 5 I guarantee that in no time Level 4 will start feeling too easy for you and Level 5 will be your new comfort zone.

So what does this mean in fitness language? You will be able to push more resistance without getting so much energy out of your heart and other muscles, which means that you are stronger overall — mission accomplished!

The next workout I want you to push your limits! I want you to challenge yourself and try things you thought you could not do. Once those become easy you will be very proud you did it and in my humble opinion, that is one of the most rewarding feelings you could ever have.

Stay fit and stay healthy!
