FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — (April 14, 2011) — Because violent crime occurs every 5 seconds in the United States, Lady of America Franchise Corporation wants to do all it can to help women protect themselves against the most common attacks they experience.
Lady of America’s Official Fitness Trainer Natalie Brabner has teamed up with Jiu-Jitsu World Champion fighter and self-defense expert Brian Fuery to share some self-defense safety tips. The five-part video, which has been streamed to Youtube.com, provides simple, effective ways for women to thwart potential assaults. At the end of each segment Brabner and Fuery show exercises that can be done at the gym or at home to increase strength and confidence in all situations.
“Our goal is to empower women with the knowledge and the skills to protect themselves in a potentially dangerous situation. These videos are one way in which we can accomplish this,” said Gerry Weber, CEO of Lady of America Franchise Corporation.
Each video runs approximately 3.5 minutes and walks the viewer through detailed, step-by-step techniques that enable women to ward off assailants and render attackers ineffective. In the video, Brabner and Fuery show viewers how to defend themselves against the common choke hold, a severe choke hold, the common lock, a potential sexual assault and when someone grabs the wrist.
“It’s not about strength, it’s about technique,” said Fuery.
“While these self-defense moves are certainly invaluable to those who have to use them, an equally important benefit remains for those who are fortunate enough to never have to use them,” added Brabner.
In an assault victims are typically caught off guard, not knowing the attack is coming and not knowing how the perpetrator is going to attack. Self-defense is not just learning a few ways to twist a wrist and run. The best method of prevention is awareness and knowing how to adapt to any situation. Awareness is not about being fearful or paranoid; it’s about being aware of your environment and able to read a person and/or a situation and anticipate the probability of violence before it happens.
